Introduce your child to math and science with special learning kits designed for hands-on, practical learning thats engaging and fun.
Family Adventures with Space uses everything from a glow-in-the-dark star finder to a NASA Scavenger Hunt where children look around their house for items that have been developed or enhanced by the space program (Velcro fasteners and smoke detectors, for example). Along with wonderful books, there are instructions for educational exercisesranging from story writing to planning a pretend spaceship landing. All FAMES kits include books, games, toys, and activities designed to stimulate the imagination of children from three years old to ten. |

What is FAMES? |
Family Adventures in Mathematics, Engineering, and Science (FAMES) is a project created to increase awareness within parent groups and the community of the importance of early experiences as a foundation for mathematics, engineering, and science concepts. FAMES was created by the Coalition for the Advancement of Science and Mathematics Education in Oklahoma (CASMEO), a non-profit alliance of representatives from the education and business sectors working to support and coordinate efforts to revitalize math and science education in the state. CASMEOs partners in the FAMES project are the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education, the Oklahoma Department of Libraries, the Oklahoma State Department of Education, the Oklahoma Parent Teacher Association, and the Southwest Consortium For the Improvement of Mathematics and Science Teaching. |

What does FAMES do? |
To increase awareness, FAMES works in partnership with community entities (such as public libraries) to provide information and distribute resources for parents to use to increase mathematical and scientific experiences at home. Resources may include learning kits, books, and websites. Available at participating public libraries, learning kits are Family Adventures with Shapes, Family Adventures with Bugs, and Family Adventures with Space. These kits are targeted toward parents with children ages 3-10 years old. |
