ODL's
Reference Desk
Reference Desk is a Service of the ODL Information Services Division...
ODL's Information Services Division houses a large collection of current
reference materials. The information staff provides quick factual assistance
to state employees, (either over the phone, 405-522-3505, or in person),
and readily-answered questions to public libraries statewide. More complex
requests from public libraries are referred to the interlibrary loan networks.
State employees may request information on work-related topics, and
check out materials from the circulating collections. In addition, database
searching is available free to state employees for work-related topics.
Interlibrary loan is available to state employees for materials not in
the collections.
The Main Library reference services are available between 8:00 a.m. and
5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. The main library collections are located
at the Allen Wright Memorial Library, 200 Northeast 18th St., in the Capitol
Complex, Oklahoma City.
The Oklahoma Collection
This
non-circulating collection consists of materials acquired by the Territorial
Library (1893) and its successors to the present. It also includes the
Oklahoma Vertical File Collection
which is an uncataloged clipping and pamphlet file. The collection's major
emphases are:
- the
published works of Oklahoma authors, and
- information
about Oklahoma regardless of authorship or
source.

Library materials in the Main collection are accessible directly to State
Government employees (405-522-3505) and via interlibrary
loan through local libraries. Materials may be checked out and/or
returned at the Circulation Desk in the Allen Wright Memorial Library
or the Jan Eric Cartwright Memorial Library
(Room B8, State Capitol building). Most library materials circulate for
one month with renewals. Reference books and other materials are subject
to special loan policies. Library materials may be recalled.
State government personnel, including elected and appointed officials,
and employees classified as permanent, probationary and emergency may
be issued library cards. Practicing librarians statewide and retired state
government employees may be issued courtesy library cards.
You can apply in person at the Wright Library circulation desk, at
the Cartwright Library in the State
Capitol building or using an online form. State government employment verification is required
before ODL will extend borrowing privileges.
A borrower's card must be presented in order to check out materials.
Seasonal and temporary employees may use the collections on the premises.
If there are questions about applying for a library card or about other
circulation policies, please call Circulation at 522-3505.
The Library does not charge fines for overdue materials. If any library
materials are lost, stolen or not returned the patron will be billed for
the actual in-print cost plus $45.00 processing. If the material is out
of print, the average cost to replace the item from an out of print source
plus $45.00 is assessed.
Replacement by the patron of the actual lost item can be negotiated with
the circulation manager. Other ODL Collections:
